ABOUT JEAN
Jean Edrada is a Yoga practitioner, somatic facilitator, healing-centered advocate, curious cat and the creator of Movement and Medicine.
Serving various communities in Chicagoland, the Bay area and Los Angeles for over 2 decades, Jean understands the importance of access to spaces and opportunities for healing, creativity and creation, joy, pleasure and freedom.
As the eldest child of immigrant parents, as an able-bodied queer, woman of color and as an active griever, Jean has experienced and witnessed the enormous impact of institutional inequity on the collective consciousness and individual bodies. She has dedicated her professional career in helping to rebuild, repair and strengthen the gaps of care and support in our communities.
Through Movement and Medicine, Jean’s mission is to help people find and make their own paths to their highest selves.
Jean graduated from University of Illinois Chicago at the top of her class with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Gender Studies. She has been teaching for 10 years after receiving her 200-hr YT in Chicago in 2014. She has also trained in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Yoga for Youth, Dynamic Mindfulness, Yoga Nidra and continues to study with and learn from teachers from various practices and lineages of study.
Jean is a co-founder of Radical Womxn and leads their Healing in Action programming offered to system impacted communities, frontline activists, and organizers. She serves as a Board Member of Cannabis Equity Illinois Coalition where she leads the CannaBodies program; educating communities on how to combine mindful consumption of cannabis with gentle movement and exercise. Jean is also the newest and youngest member of Sana Healing Collective, where she offers 1:1 cannabis-assisted movement and somatic explorations.
Jean also frequently collaborate and support with local and national organizations - small and large- to bring bespoke experiences and events that help to regenerate and empower bodies.
